‘Hero’ic….Indeed!

with 2 comments

Last night I was at the LB Stadium watching the finals of the ‘Abandoned league’(ICL) tourney live. It was the local heroes taking on the Lahore Badshahs. In more than one way, this match was a visual treat. I would probably be lying if I say it did not feel like an international game. The Lahore team can anyday replace the Pakistan cricket team and in the Hyderabad team it was our local boys who cam to the fore when it mattered. All the required ingridients of an Indo-Pak clash. The same passion, the same aggression, the same quality of cricket, the same crowd support in a jam packed stadium. The match went down to the wire and the scores were tied. The winner was decided by a bowl out(the new rule which will guarantee a result) and our heroes pulled it off in style. ICL Champions. In the end it was the local guys Binny,Reddy and Rayudu with not much support from the ‘international’ players who saw us through.

After all that trivia, something more interesting. The crowd. It was a complete cross section of the society. Some commentators, analysts, photographers, fight pickers( liked the usage), cheerleaders and many more personalities were assumed by the people during the course of the match. The support was visible and loud. There were equal number of Pakistan flags as there were Indian. ????. So did all these people fly down from Pakistan for the final? Surely not for an ICL final. Then who are all these people? I know we live in the ‘Athithi Devo Bhava’( Guest is God) country but so much love for a guest that will turn into hatred for the home team??? I guess some people put Religion over Nation. But does Pakistan symbolise Islam? I surely dont think so. Even if it did, I want to reiterate the same basic question-Love of land or Love of religion? We live socially by the law of the land but personally we live by the law of the religion. Which of these is more basic to existence? I may not be sounding ‘politically correct’ but some questions no matter what are never answered.

Humour….the ACD way!!

with 2 comments

What is good humour??? This is not a question that should put to someone from ACD. Because for such simple questions also we have answers and answers and answers. That’s how complicated it is. If this doesn’t make sense what will. Lets see.

One fine summer morning one of ACD’s integral members Shashank comes up with a very long question and as is the case generally he messages it to everyone in the gang–

” If you had to name ‘our’ kind of humour ,what would you call it? Slapstick/dry/sarcastic? Or a combination of dry and sarcastic? Second thoughts, are we really humorous?:) I think it is dry considering most other people don’t get our jokes. Answer me. Cheers “

If you are thinking what kind of a lame question is that then you are still miles away from the ACD way! :)   Just see what our Menon mentions in the reply–

“Slapstick when it is within our group.Inhumanely sarcastic to others as we have got so used to it that we have no clue how to go about sarcasm subtly. Dry, repetitive and annoying because we get f**king conscious when we are around people.Barring few things I guess we are pretty cool. And whoever has come up with this tell them they are being impressionable and they don’t get ‘it’..oh my ego is fire.Hehe”

If you thought who is this person to have put in so much effort to get a reply going then you will be surprised to know I also used all the same adjectives in my reply. That’s how it is. If you are confused then you are normal, if you are not “welcome to ACD”

P.S- This is copyright content. Please get in touch with Naveen or Shashank before you get opinionated.:)
